Garajau-Cristo Rei Viewpoint
Starting in Old Town, city of Funchal, you follow the São Gonçalo Street, one of the most beautiful streets of Funchal, with a stop in Pináculo Viewpoint, with an amazing view of the bay of Funchal. Next, you arrive in Garajau, next to the city of Funchal. Here, you can appreciate the Cristo-Rei Viewpoint, with an excellent view over the bay of Funchal, the Natural Reserve of Garajau and the Atlantic Ocean. The Cristo-Rei Viewpoint was given the name as a result of the existence of a “Christ the King” statue, which was erected to fulfill a promise made by Counselor Aires de Ornelas. You can also ride in a cable car to the beach. The tour continues then, back to Funchal through other road, the Boa Nova road, with breathtaking views over the city of Funchal.
