The PR22 Vereda do Chao dos Louros Hiking Trail is a circular route of 1.9 km and 45 minutes, scroll through the area surrounding the Chao dos Louros forest park , offering various combinations for their achievement. This route is located within the lush Laurissilva forest, consecrated as a World Natural Heritage under the aegis of UNESCO since December 1999, dominated by evergreen trees belonging to the family of Lauraceae such as laurel (Laurus novocanariensis) many sometimes accompanied by Mother-of-blond (Laurobasidium lauryl – resulting from the action of a fungus), the tilde (foetens Ocotea), the Vinhático (Persea indica). Starting this route is possible to access the Ribeira Grande from the existing connection to the PR 21 Caminho do Norte Hiking Trail and get magnificent views of the entire valley of San Vicente from the existing natural viewpoint on the route.
